David comes from three generations of Sidwicks that have lived in Bournemouth West. He went to St Luke’s School and then Bournemouth School. Apart from his time at Bristol University he has always resided in Bournemouth. After a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry, in 2000 he opened a highly regarded medical education consultancy. David has been a school governor and until recently chair of governors for Bournemouth School. 

He believes passionately that Bournemouth is a very special place and that the Conservative Party is best placed to deliver a prosperous and thriving future for all its residents. David was elected to serve Dorset as Police and Crime Commissioner at the May 2021 election and re-elected in the 2024 election.
