Toby is a current Councillor for Alderney and Bourne Valley ward, but is standing in Wallisdown and Winton West ward in May 2023’s local elections. He is a committed ward Councillor, and also serves as Bournemouth West Conservative Association’s Deputy Chairman (Political).
After joining us in 2021, he has campaigned tirelessly for the local issues that his residents care about, including protecting the heathland, and has also represented them on many committees in the Civic Centre. This work has included acting as Vice-Chair of both the Planning Committee and Licensing Committee.
In late 2021 Toby was also made BCP’s Lead Member for Levelling Up and Skills, a position that he has taken great pride in. He has led the Council on its policy relating to Central Government’s flagship Levelling Up campaign, helping to bring in nearly £50m to the Council through the various Levelling Up related funds thanks to successful bids to the Levelling Up Fund itself, but also the UKSPF and Towns fund. These were collaborative pieces that showed what a Conservative Council can do for its area.
He was also involved in the creation of BCP’s first Skills Plan, designed to ensure that our young people grow up with the skills they need not just to pass their exams, but to reach their full potential within our society. Toby is passionate about social mobility and education, and is committed to seeing that everyone is able to start from a level playing field.
